Joint Usage/Research Project
MMRC is re-authorized by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as Joint Usage/Research Center for “fungal infectious diseases” in 2015. The aim of the program is to offer an opportunity of collaborative research to the research groups outside of MMRC with MMRC researchers. The program also encourages effective usage of the facilities and bio-resources of MMRC. The applicants should submit a research proposal after close consultation with the host researcher(s) of MMRC. A letter of consent by the head of the institution where the applicant belongs is also required.
- Research grants: MMRC provides up to 250,000 JPY / year for applicants who are selected by the scientific committee of the program. Spending control of the grants will be done by MMRC.
- About 30 research proposals will be selected.
The eligible applicant is a researcher of university or academic research institute. Proposals are welcome from the researchers with expertise in basic and clinical research for pathogenic microorganisms including fungi, infectious diseases, host defenses and other trans-disciplinary research.

Proposals will be evaluated by the scientific committee comprising representatives of the related communities.

A progress report of the research should be sent to host researcher using “Report form”
until the end of May, 2026. The reports will be published in “Annual report of MMRC”.
When the research is published in scientific paper, the support from the program should be acknowledged. Example: This study was partly supported by Joint Usage/Research Program of Medical Mycology Research Center, Chiba University (25-※※) “. (※※ is the project number)
- If you plan to stay in Chiba for research purposes, please get in touch with theollaborating researchers at MMRC.
- If you need to conduct genetic modification experiments or animal experiments, you will need tosubmit a notification and obtain approval following Chiba University regulations.
- If you visit MMRC to conduct experiments, please inform the administrative office in advance if youhave any diseases that may make you susceptible to the pathogens you will be handling. In some cases, the office may ask you to submit a medical certificate.
- Please complete the application form (Form 1) on no more than two pages. Please include the mostrecentimpact factor (IF) of the journal in which your work was published. Please use a font size of 10-11 points.
- When applying, please refer to the research fields, faculty names, main research content, and contactnformation on the website of MMRC (http://www.pf.chiba-u.ac.jp/). Also, you can check the experimental equipment and devices.
- The information on the accepted research projects will be presented on the website of MMRC.
