Project for Cytokine Research

Research interests

Cytokines play a central role in maintenance of homeostasis. Development of transgenic techniques has made it possible to directly analyze the functions of a particular gene in a living animal. We aim to find new therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases and infectious diseases by investigating the roles of cytokines in pathogenesis using transgenic techniques.

Using gene-deficient mice, we are investigating the mechanisms of cytokine production and their roles in the development of infectious and inflammatory diseases.

  1. Elucidation of the roles of cytokines in the maintenance of immune homeostasis.
  2. Elucidation of the roles of cytokines induced by fungal infection.
  3. Elucidation of the roles of cytokines in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases.
